Activities and Commitees

The following is a list of the activities of the German Club. Some programs are still in planning. If you would like to participate, or would like to contribute your time and talent, you're invited to become involved. Any other ideas on activities for the German Club are encouraged and welcome.

Maifest

Our first annual Maifest will be held at the Berghaus at Mount Hyak. The date has not been confirmed yet, but you can look forward to good food, great atmosphere, music, raffle and merriment. We'll keep you posted with details, date and directions.

Fundraisers

Our next fundraiser will be at Olympia's Spring Arts Walk on 23 and 24 April 2010 in downtown Olympia. We will have our German food concession on Washington Street, which will be closed to traffic and be the stage for a craft market and live music.
You can also support us by visiting the event and purchasing our food items. You can look forward to delicious Bratwurst, Currywurst, Sauerkraut, German Soft Pretzels , pastries and beverages.

Christkindlmarkt

The first ever Olympia Christkindlmarkt was a success for the German Club. We were only able to start with one booth that we've built during the summer, but it was a beautiful booth that attracted many visitors and customers. We've served hot cocoa and hot Christmas punch in limited edition ceramic Olympia Christkindlmarkt mugs. We also sold home-baked goods that our talented and generous members baked for the event. Our goal for next yar is to be located inside Sylvester park and to have at least three booths. Anyone interested in helping out with the Christmas market is encouraged to join our Chrsitkindlmarket Planning Committee.

German Movie Night

The last German Movie Night  was on Friday, the 10th of July at 7:00 p.m. Location address is 1910 Black Lake Blvd. Olympia. We saw the movie "Wer frueher stirbt is laeger tot". If you'd like to borrow the DVD, contact Sandy.
